Do you want to make your voice heard as a local resident?

Why not join the Tenants Engagement Group and influence the way our homes and neighbourhood are taken care of?
Who are we?
We are a group of tenants and leaseholders who volunteer our time. We exist to provide an independent voice for all tenants and leaseholders of the council. We use a variety of ways to gain and express views regarding service delivery and share feedback between residents and GBC Housing.
Joining the Tenants Group is a great way to get involved in your local community and help shape the Housing Service you receive.
What do we do?
We aim to act as a collective voice for tenants and leaseholders and provide a safe and independent point of contact for anyone who needs help or advice on housing issues. We can point the way forward to the relevant people who can help.
One of our most crucial roles is to work closely with GBC Housing on issues that affect tenants directly such as the impact of anti-social behaviour on residents, how long properties are left empty as well as repairs being carried out properly and in a timely manner.
The scrutiny role is one which the Government has given the Tenants Groups nationally and is a legal requirement for any Council to undertake as stated in the Government’s White Paper on Social Housing www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-charter-for-social-housing-residents-social-housing-white-paper
Why join now?
There has never been a better time to join the Tenants Engagement Group.
The Council have new management within the housing department who not only want to fully engage with our group but actively seek to work with us. Joining the Tenants Engagement Group means you can directly influence and work with the housing team to improve the service delivered by the housing department.
What’s involved?
There are many ways you can get involved. Attend our monthly meetings held on the last Tuesday of each month (apart from December and August). We appreciate not everyone can attend evening meetings so we are also setting up a digital group where members can get involved from their own homes
We are also looking for people to get involved in projects working on specific areas of housing as and when the need arises.
If you are a tenant or leaseholder who is interested in getting involved with the Tenant Engagement Group, please email us, we have various roles available and can be flexible to fit in with the time you can offer.
You can email us at Tenants.Group@guildford.gov.uk If you have a housing issue you would like some help with, please email us and a member of the group will contact you.
