Welcome – May & June 2025
With the days growing longer and the sunshine starting to warm us up, we’re very happy to welcome you to the May & June edition of Bellfields & Slyfield Pages! It’s wonderful to feel the fresh energy of the new season, and we hope you’re enjoying the brighter days as much as we are.

In this issue, Guildford Cathedral introduces their exciting ‘Daring Descent’ challenge, offering the adventurous among us a chance to raise vital funds by abseiling down the Cathedral itself!
Our local councillors, James Walsh and Amanda Creese, provide their regular update on what’s been happening in our community. We’ve also included our ever-popular home-grown crossword and a roundup of local events for you to pop in your diary.
We’re keen to hear your thoughts too, so please take a moment to complete our online survey and let us know if we’re providing the community focus you want from Bellfields & Slyfield Pages.
There’s good news from Surrey Sports Park, who are expanding their free community fitness programme to help keep us all active. Meanwhile, Guildford Borough Council updates us on several projects: the installation of a new ‘toucan’ crossing as part of the Weyside Urban Village regeneration, progress at Burpham Court Farm Nature Reserve, work on the new council depot, and plans for VE Day commemorations.
We also hear from the National Trust about Polesden Lacey’s ‘Dress to Impress’ exhibition – a real treat for history and costume fans. Kirsten Rosslyn-Smith, Vicar at St Peter’s Shared Church, shares a lovely reflection on how a chance meeting sparked creativity and transformation.
Finally, the Worplesdon Garden Club bring us their latest gardening tips to keep our gardens blooming through May and June.
We hope you enjoy this issue and look forward to catching up again in July & August!
